Research studies in the field of health have multiplied in sub-Saharan Africa in recent decades. While health research is essential to bring forward scientific knowledge and the fight against diseases affecting the countries of this Region, it inevitably raises the question of the risks incurred by the participants and that of the fair sharing of the results of the research.
When a laboratory requests them, the participants are not always sufficiently informed about the tests carried out, and their living conditions can lead them to accept under the pressure exerted by the laboratories.

Ce comité évalue les recherches faites sur des sujets humains avant leur mise en place pour protéger les participants et veiller à ce que les risques soient minimes par rapport aux bénéfices.
L’examen du projet de recherche est une étape obligatoire avant toute recherche.
Le comité d’éthique a aussi un rôle de sensibilisation auprès des chercheurs, il accompagne la recherche.
Il est composé d’experts divers, médecins, pharmacien, juristes, chercheurs, philosophes, et représentants de la société civile.
La participation à la recherche doit être libre, et sans pression!
Le comité d'éthique agit de manière confidentielle, en toute indépendance, pour protéger les droits et le bien-être des participants qui peuvent le contacter à tout moment.
